Replacing a 65% battery on a 2012 Nissan Leaf to a 30kWh at 94 %.
This is how you do it.
Great Video from EVs Enhanced.
You can see some difference between the two generational batteries. The video explains it.

Nissan e-NV200 info
If you like the Nissan Leaf, take a look at the Nissan e-NV200.
A big improvement is the thermal system that takes better care of the battery The bottom version Visia does not have it (stay away), but from the Acenta and Tekna has it. It preheats and cools the battery according to needs making the battery last longer.

It has a 125 kW BLDC electric motor (synchronous BLDC)
Max Torque:
"The BMW i3 eMachine is an Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) machine with a heavily skewed rotor, and as such it has low saliency, meaning a low cogging torque. However it has a high ratio between the d and q rotor axis inductance, meaning it can generate a high reluctance torque, and hence produces a high torque per amp output (but sacrifices maximum power capability to do so. At just about 2.5kW/kg, it's around 4x lower specific power output than the latest high speed eMachines. As an IPM, you'll have to optimise the d/q axis current to find the angle at which the machine produces the highest torque/amp, unlike a Surface Permanent Magnet (SPM) machine that produces peak torque/Amp entirely within the q axis (when below it's base speed, ie not field weakened). Some reverse engineering may be possible to pull that mapping from within the OEM controller....." - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJtIS4KhvYM

BMW i3 Battery
BMW sells their car batteries in Ah. A new 2019 model year i3 and i3s with higher-capacity battery packs and longer range has been released. The battery of new version has a capacity of 42.2 kWh (with 120 Ah lithium-ion cells). Expected EPA range is ~153 miles.
Battery capacity has doubled compared to the first versions of the i3 from late 2013 (with 60Ah which equals 21.6 kWh) and increased by approximately 30% (33,2x1.3) compared to the second version unveiled in May 2016 94Ah = 33.2 kWh.
Thanks to Björn showing us how his battery looks. He replaced it with a 94Ah battery in his BMW i3.
"Figured I'd show how easy the battery pack of a 60Ah is to take apart! Too easy! Just got the last module out and everything is really super easy to take apart!
Decided to keep my old 60Ah and part it up (to sell) as I just upgraded with a 94Ah one in our neighboring country Norway." - Björn L

"The Samsung SDI cell in the i3 has a very good track record. It is rated for 4600 full 0 to 100 charge cycles before end of life (where it drops below 80% capacity). The battery capacity in the service menu isn't very reliable. Those numbers have a tendency to fluctuate a lot."- Samuel Tolentino

Looks like there is a lot of available space for more batteries.
Go for a 2017 or earlier with a 35.8kwh battery and 201km of autonomy. The 2016 has a 24kwh battery, so only 130km... and less power.
No mechanical or electrical changes since 2017... only cosmetics

This is how battery looks like:
Photo from Arunas B who sells these.
Seems to mounted from the underside, the same as BMW i3 and Nissan Leaf.

2016: 24,2 Kw price 2500-3000 eu.
2019: 35,8 Kw -price 4500 eu
